High Tea for Two

May 21, 2014
This weekend Tom and I enjoyed high tea at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel in DC.  We always love going to the Round Robin Bar at the Willard, so it was exciting to add this to our list of wonderful experiences at the historic hotel.  I went to high tea with my mother when we visited my dad in Oxford, England two years ago, so I knew this would be a lovely experience.  We started off with a glass of Moët & Chandon champagne (naturally) and then moved on to enjoy tea, scones (with cream, apricot preserves and lemon curd), tea sandwiches and decadent desserts!  After tea we went for a stroll by the White House and around Lafayette Square.  It was a lovely afternoon and the perfect ending to a wonderful weekend.

I ordered English breakfast tea, and Tom ordered Jasmine Gold tea.  Both were yummy!

I'm a pearls kinda girl.  Although, these earrings aren't pearls, they are actually polished cotton balls!

Yummy tea sandwiches, scones and desserts!

Tea for two!

Love love love peonies!

The Willard Intercontinental Hotel lobby is gorgeous year-round.

I always stop to smell the flowers.

Gorgeous flowers in the lobby of the Willard.  The peonies are my favorite, of course.

The perfect twirling dress!

Goofing off for my handsome camera man (thanks for putting up with me Tom!).

  1. Polished cotton balls? I need to know more! High tea looks lovely, wish I had done that when I was in DC.

    1. They are made by John Wind, and are very popular in South Georgia (cotton land!). My mom bought them for me as a gift a few months ago, and I just love them. I just have to make sure they don't get wet, otherwise they can shrink!

    1. Thanks Johanna! A little info on the cotton balls is above in Lauren's response. I have a link in the post where all the sources are, if you are interested in checking them out. They are pretty cheap too!

    1. Mmmm I"m going to have to try out Off the Record! We actually walked to the Hay Adams after tea just to look around, but we were full so we didn't get to enjoy anything to eat. Thanks for the tip! Info on the "pearls" is above.

Sorry I haven't been around...lots and lots of technical problems here the past couple of months.

    1. Thank you! The sunglasses are from the Polo outlet store. Got them a few years ago so not sure if they have anything like that anymore.
