No bar cart? No problem!

December 13, 2013

Have you noticed that bar carts are all the rage right now?  I don't have enough room for a bar cart, but that doesn't mean I'm missing out on all the fun!  It's easy to set up your own bar area with a tray on a console table or desk.  At a minimum, just grab a tray, a pretty shaker, some straws and some booze :)  Here is my bar tray that is set up on my amazing CB2 Lucite console table.

Items that I use on my bar tray:

-cute cocktail napkins
-drink stirrers (mine are retro and were my great-great aunt's from the 60's)
-colorful straws
-fun bowl with limes
-shot glasses (mine are from Z Gallerie from a few years back)
-drink shaker with a gold top from Anthropologie (can't find online anymore)
-mother of pearl and gold coasters
-booze (of course!)
-wineglass charms (I made mine with beads, fishing line and little magnetic fasteners)
-pretty vintage glasses (displayed below the table, and go with the stirrers)
-cocktail recipe book and witty book with drinking quotes (I love to decorate with books!)
-orchid (any flowers would work, but orchids are EASY and hard to kill)

Bar trays (and carts) are a great way to be ready for an impromptu party, and they add a dash of whimsy to any room!  Set up a bar tray if you've been lusting after a bar cart.  It'll save you money and space!

  3. I've been lusting over bar carts since I moved into my studio apartment in July but haven't found one at the right price point (so expensive!), and don't want to commit to something just to have one. I love this idea! Thanks for sharing :)
