Animal Head Christmas Makeover

December 11, 2013

I bought 3 white, plaster animal heads from Z Gallerie about 6 months ago, and I love how they look in my living room.  I typically dress them up with mardi gras beads to add an additional dash of whimsy, but now that it's Christmas time, they've gotten even more of a makeover!  What crazy thing do you do to decorate your home for Christmas?

My moose gets to wear a cute fur scarf (that I'll borrow from time to time).
Ms. Rhino gets to wear beads that match a strand of beads on my Christmas tree!
The gazelle is sporting a "table wreath" purchased at Trader Joes!
This little corner of my apartment is all ready for Christmas!  Still need to add presents though :)

  1. Hi Katie! My husband is a fellow grad ('07 - H4 Go Hogs!) and stumbled across your site this afternoon and I'm glad I did! What an incredibly woman you are! My hats off to you and your strength to face each day. I also read your article in the West Point mag.

We usually have a tree decorated with lights and ornaments collected from all over. I love going through and identifying where and when each ornament is from. In addition to our tree we also have "Christmas chair." Christmas chair began in the spring of 2009 while he was home on r&r since we did not have the opportunity to spend our first Christmas together. The chair itself is one I picked up from a German thrift shop and it has one string of cheery colored lights and nothing else. We keep it simple with the chair for it honors those that are unable to be with their loved ones during the holidays due to deployment. If you'd like to see a picture of it, please let me know.

My best to you Katie, keep going forward!
